Dr. Gradwell's periodontic practice is staffed with highly qualified technical professionals who, as you will find, are also very friendly and caring individuals.As a team, they work together closely with Dr. Gradwell to provide implant dentistry and periodontic support services to our patients. They take great pride in helping to deliver the highest level of dental mastery possible while assuring the utmost in comfort and care during all phases of treatment. Dr. Scott Gradwell:Scott A. Gradwell, D.M.D., is a native of the Lehigh Valley and a graduate of Parkland High School. He has resided in the Fogelsville area since 1990. A graduate of Albright College and Temple Dental School, Dr. Gradwell completed a residency in the specialty of Periodontics and Implantology at Temple University. In 1990 he opened his private practice in Allentown. He has been active on staff at Lehigh Valley and Sacred Heart hospitals since 1992. He currently serves as secretary of the board of the Lehigh County Senior Center. As an Eagle Scout, Dr. Gradwell is committed to community service.Dr. Gradwell has recently had a life milestone with Dr. I.J. Freedman commemorating the 20 years that they have practiced periodontal and implant dentistry together in Abington, PA. Along with his many accomplishments he has lectured nationally on the periodontal treatment of Arestin. Dr. Gradwell, as Chairman of the DESERV Program, coordinates much needed dental care for underprivileged children. He was the recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award from Lehigh Valley Hospital Dental Residency Program and the Man of the Year for the Community Service for Children. Dr. Gradwell was named 1999 Alumni of the Year for Albright College. When Dr. Gradwell is not in the office he enjoys spending time with his three children, Ashley, Sean and Lauren. He is actively involved in The First Presbyterian Church in Allentown. In his spare time you can usually find him working on his farm. Professional Activities and Affiliations:
Staff: Kathy Cassel (left) has been our Office Administrator since 1991.She is happy to answer any questions about our practice, payment policy, your account status or your insurance plan. Kathy's longevity with the practice has helped to provide a continuous flow of quality throughout our practice. Kathy and her husband are actively involved in their church and are the busy parents of three children.
Christine Afflerbach (right), is our Treatment Planning Coordinator. She will schedule your appointment and greet you when you arrive at our office.Chris brings with her many years of chairside dental assisting experience as well as dental office experience. Chris has a broad knowledge and understanding of dental procedures and would be happy to answer any of your questions. She enjoys spending time with her husband and son.
Heather Walp (left), has been Dr. Gradwell's surgical dental assistant since 2000. She is a 1996 graduate of the Lehigh Valley Dental Assisting Institute. Heather is very knowledgeable in all aspects of periodontal and dental implant procedures.She is always willing to take the time to answer any of your questions relating to your treatment plan and postoperative care. Heather maintains meticulous attention to detail in all she does surgically and with patient care. She and her husband, recently welcomed the birth of their daughter Maliya on July 4, 2008. Heather and her husband, enjoy camping and softball games. They also take care of the computer and electronic needs of our office.
Christine Hemphill (right) has been Dr. Gradwell's surgical dental assistant since 2005. She is very knowledgeable in all aspects of periodontal and dental implant procedures. Christine has a genuine care for each patient.She brings a wonderful dynamic to our office setting. Christine coordinates the specific technical aspects of dental implants in our practice. She possesses a great balance of technical skill and patient compassion. She enjoys spending time with family and friends. She has a son, Eric, who attends Northampton Community College. Ali, her daughter, a middle school student at Nazareth, is active in softball and dance.
Sandra Svitana (left), is our office typist. She is responsible for typing the letters that Dr. Gradwell dictates on each patient that has treatment done in our office.These letters are sent to the patient's general dentist to keep them informed of the care that has been provided in our office. Sandra and her husband enjoy traveling as well as bowling in these "partially retired" days.
Lori Kasunic (right) is our Registered Dental Hygienist. She is a 1993 graduate of Northampton Community College. She practices full time in the office of Dr. Donna Wallinger-Corvino in Wind Gap, PA.Dr. Gradwell is very excited to have Lori as a part of his dental team. Lori has all the qualities a dentist would look for in a dental hygienist. Her kind manner and clinical expertise is something every patient comments about. Lori and her husband are busy parents of four daughters. She is very active with her church. Staff - Community ActivitiesDuring January 2007 our entire staff, as part of our annual trip to New York City, attended the production of the popular Broadway play, "Wicked."![]() Here we are at the warehouse for the Second Harvest Foodbank, pictured with the local representative for our area. We made a staff cookbook and sold it to many of our patients. All of the proceeds from the cookbook were donated to Second Harvest Foodbank to help distribute food to the hungry people in our area. ![]() "Second Harvest's 180 member agencies in 6 counties are insuring that the needy in our area are fed every day, not just at the holidays.
